MISSION STATEMENT:

Engage Northwest Florida citizens to promote communities free of drug abuse.

 

Goal 1: Increase membership, participation and funding for the Northwest Florida Prevention Coalition.

 

Objective 1-A - Grow the coalition’s membership by 50% by December 31, 2007. 

Strategies

1) Select membership chair by May 15, 2007. (Gloria) – Completed April 2007

2) Revise brochure and new comer’s packet by June 30, 2007. (Carmela)

3) Establish memorandum of agreement with all active partners by June 30, 2007. (Carmela)

4) Identify missing groups on the Community Recruitment Wheel by June 30, 2007. (Danette & Carmela)

5) Recruit at least one representative from each of the 13 groups on the Community Recruitment Wheel by December 31, 2007. (All Coalition members) 

6) Every member will invite one new prospective member per year-ongoing (all members)

Fill all positions by December 31, 2007. (Membership chair)

 

Objective 1-B - Improve the participation of coalition members to at least 50% of all the membership to be actively involved.

Strategies

1) Document expertise and interest level (either Active Partner or Community Partner – see note below) of all members by September 30, 2007. (Carmela)

2) Determine roles and level of involvement/commitment by September 30, 2007. (Carmela)

3) Implement a best contact reminder strategy by June 30, 2007. (Carmela)

4) Revise sign-in sheet by March 30, 2007. (Lisa) – Completed March 2007

5) Schedule sponsored breakfast prior to coalition meeting by October 30, 2007. (Carmela)

 

NOTE:  Active Partner defined as someone who attends at least eight (8) Coalition Meetings or events during a calendar year.  Community Partner defined as someone or an entity that supports the coalition through contributions or other means of support.

 

Objective 1-C - Increase assets to accomplish coalition goals through fund raising activities and donations by December 31, 2007.

Strategies

1) Select fund raising chairperson by May 15, 2007. (Gloria)

2) Develop procedures, guidelines and documentation for fund raising by June 30, 2007. (Fund Raising Committee)

3) Develop ideas and recommend specific fundraising events/activities by July 31, 2007 (examples mentioned: Breakfasts, Newsletters, Ask for money, etc.) (Fund Raising Committee)

4) Develop sponsorship levels (Examples: Gold, silver, bronze, etc.) (Fund Raising Committee)

5) Select a person to apply for grants and to maintain documentation to support the grant requirements by April 15th (Gloria). Completed April 2007 (Mike Simmons)


Goal 2: Reduce drug abuse among the youth of Northwest Florida.

 

Objective 2-A – Reduce under-age alcohol use in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties by 5% as of the release of the next Florida Youth Survey in April 2008.

Strategies

1) Educate and inform parents regarding under-age alcohol use by 12/31/2007.

Action Steps:

a)      Brown Bag Series—this step will be tabled and addressed later in the year

b)      Parent Peer Groups—Carmela  NWFPC will distribute flyers in support of the activity

c)      Savvy Parents Series—CDAC  NWFPC will distribute flyers in support of the activity

d)      Coalition Inserts through the school district—Nancy

The coalition will support these activities with manpower and financial aid when possible.

 

2) Educate and inform students regarding under-age alcohol use by May 2008.

Action steps: 

a)      Red Ribbon Rally—Carmela

b)      Red Ribbon Lesson plans—CDAC

c)      Youth Committee--Pensacola's Promise—Carmela

d)      Project Graduation—CDAC

The coalition will support these activities with manpower and financial aid when possible.

 

3) Educate and inform the community regarding under-age alcohol use by May 2008.

a)      Red Ribbon Event—Carmela

b)      Town Hall Meetings—Carmela and Nancy with Health First Network when feasible

c)      Under-age drinking task force liaison--Nancy

d)      National Night Out-1st Tuesday in August—Linda and ESO

e)      Neighborhood Watch Outreach—Doris

The coalition will support these activities with manpower and financial aid when possible.
