Treasurer’s Report

Greg Smith reported that there is $275 in the account.

Data Committee Report

Linda Moultrie reported that the Data Committee had discussed what they wanted to report and decided that they needed input from the Steering Committee as to what direction they need to take. In addition Sgt. Simmons asked for clarification on how and or what crime the Coalition wants to address. Data is abundant and we could fill a room with it, therefore the Coalition needs to determine what the data will be used for. Our mission indicates that we want to reduce crime but the question was raised what kind of crime? Only drug related crime? Amy Marshall reminded the committee that Dr. Honea has offered to help the data committee. Greg Smith said that we as a coalition must be able to show relevancy through our mission goals and strategies in order to get funding from both grants and sponsors. Linda Moultrie encouraged all the members to consider this issue and bring ideas to the next Steering Committee meeting.

Linda Moultrie mentioned that when she attended the statewide conference she heard that the Florida Alcohol and Drug Association (FADAA) will provide coalitions with training at no cost. Ms. Moultrie made the motion that we invite the FADAA to provide training on growing and sustaining a prevention coalition. Carl Reeves seconded the motion. It was approved unanimously. Linda will follow up to insure this is a no cost training prior to securing a speaker.
